THE CHALLENGE OF SAFETY DATA SHEET MANAGEMENT
OSHA requires that all relevant and current Safety Data Sheets be kept on file, and be readily available to workers. Especially for larger firms with multiple departments or projects, keeping all that documentation straight over time can be an ongoing burden.
With new SDS updates being released on no fixed schedule, that challenge becomes even more complex. Plus in case of a reportable incident, you may need to show that the company was compliant in storing and providing up-to-date SDS info.
WELCOME TO ADVANCED SDS MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES
The SDS Management Module from Safety Indicators helps streamline the handling of even large numbers of Safety Data Sheets. Automated features help the safety team stay on top of things, while reducing the risk of unavailable, outdated, or mis-filed SDSs.
For other company-specific or manufacturer-specific safety related information, a separate Safety Documents Module is also available.
SDS MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE THAT MAKES THINGS SIMPLE+
A SINGLE REPOSITORY
Uploading and archiving Safety Data Sheets to the Safety Indicators platform is simple. A list view shows all the SDSs that are on file; simply click to open and view the SDS you need, in PDF format.
An electronic form is provided to specify details for each SDS, including product name and description, reference number, the manufacturer, and optionally, a site part number.
GET CURRENT, STAY CURRENT
Replacing an obsolete SDS with an updated version is also easy. The current version number and its release date are always on view, to help eliminate mistakes.
The system also notes if a SDS applies to a legacy product, if a product review is needed before using it, or if company-specific protocols have been added to address previous safety issues.
FIND WHAT YOU NEED
The system can be searched for a specific SDS, by reference number or other variable. You can also create a subset list by filtering for product name, manufacturer, or document status. This comes in handy when the company maintains SDSs for many different products.
To keep things simple for workers in the field, each department or project can have its own list for just the products they use.
EASY ACCESS
Employees can use any digital device to bring up the latest-version SDS they need. Safety managers or supervisors can also send them the sheets they require, through the Safety Indicators system, when the worker is hired or reassigned.
People can also save an SDS to their digital device, so they won’t need an internet connection later to refer to it.
